What are the responsibilities and job description for the Procurement Specialist position at CONAGRA?
Position Responsibilities
- Ensure materials are available by converting requisitions to purchase orders (POs) with vendors on time, ensuring confirmation and acceptable shipping dates.
- Expedite materials as needed.
- Oversight of the storeroom staffing and scheduling.
- Reduction of excess and obsolete material.
- Maintains professional relationship with internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Represent the organization as the primary purchasing contact on assigned contracts/subcontracts.
- Maintenance of SAP past due open transactions and vendors’ info records.
- Maintenance of blocked invoices.
- Set up new vendors according to vendor master procedure.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies following corporate A/P policies and procedures.
- Communicate all delays or variances of inbound freight to the appropriate parties.
- Request cycle counts of MRO items, reconciliation, and receiving.
- Provides SAP training for plant MRO procurement peers and cross functional team members on MRO related best practices.
- Ensure that proper documentation of the purchase is included in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Manage month-end close, to include running and analyzing the open PO report, and running other reports as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
- Knowledge of VMI programs, both from an implementation and tracking standpoint.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, correct, and manage finances allocated to the supply of materials while operating within a budget.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Able to maintain confidential information
- Minimum of one-year experience desired with SAP.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience purchasing, indirect buying, negotiations, and finance.
