The Concordia University (Saint Paul, MN) Department of Science invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Chemistry to begin as soon as January 2023 or as late as August 2023 depending on candidate availability. Applicants must have or be near completion of a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field. Teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
The typical teaching load averages 12 credits per semester and will be comprised primarily of introductory chemistry courses including General Chemistry and Chemistry for Health Sciences with opportunities for other courses including Organic, Analytical, and Physical Chemistry based on candidate expertise and department need. Preference will be given to candidates that are also capable of teaching introductory physics or biology courses.
Science faculty members are expected to be innovative in their teaching techniques to ensure student engagement and success. A strong emphasis is placed on active learning in the classroom. Faculty members are also expected to mentor students, interface with student lab assistants, maintain laboratory spaces, and contribute to service within the department.
The Department of Science is a growing, dynamic department that offers majors in Biology (both B.A. and B.S.),Biochemistry (B.S.), and Chemistry (B.A.). Department courses also serve as prerequisites for the University's Nursing and Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs.
