What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Operator position at Concrete Materials?
This position starts out at $23 and up, depending on experience. This is a full time seasonal position with a Winter layoff and a Spring recall.
JOB SUMMARY
Operate self-propelled mining machines that rip coal, metal and nonmetal ores, rock, stone, or sand from the face and load it onto conveyors or into shuttle cars in a continuous operation.
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or General Education Degree required.
- Mining experience.
- Familiarity with aggregate gradations.
- Experience with inventory management.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule and timely delivery of aggregates, admixtures and supplies to plant.
- Responsible for efficient working condition of plant equipment.
- Operate equipment safely.
- Perform servicing and maintenance.
- Work together with dispatcher on taking orders from customers.
- Operate earth-moving or other heavy construction equipment.
- Operate mining equipment or machinery.
- Use hand or power tools and measuring devices in construction or extraction work.
- Ability to work overtime during busy season.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations (Federal, state, local and company policies.)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This position may require you to wear a half mask respirator at times and therefore, you will be required to be fit tested. Per OSHA “The Respiratory Protection standard, paragraph 29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A), states that respirators shall not be worn when facial hair comes between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face or that interferes with valve function. Facial hair is allowed as long as it does not protrude under the respirator seal, or extend far enough to interfere with the device's valve function. Short mustaches, sideburns, and small goatees that are neatly trimmed so that no hair compromises the seal of the respirator usually do not present a hazard and, therefore, do not violate paragraph 1910.134(g)(1)i)
Typical hours during Production are M-F 7am-6pm.
