We are looking for an Outside Buyer for an Aerospace and Machining Manufacturer
Position Summary: $26-$29 an hour to start
The Outside Buyer is to assist the Supply Chain Manager with the procurement of supplies and services. Price is a key consideration when making procurement decisions, although discretion should be utilized to consider delivery, quality, and other factors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- · Solicit vendors, negotiate and issue purchase orders in accordance with company procedures, under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager.
- · Obtain and maintain records of up to three (3) price quotes on all procurements where possible.
- · Follow up on a regular basis with vendors to ensure delivery of goods and services are made in a timely manner. Communicate any delays with delivery to the Supply Chain Manager or other initiator of the requirement.
- · Negotiate changes to the purchase order as required based on changes in requirements, delivery schedules, specifications, or other factors.
- · Coordinate with the Shipping and Receiving Department to ensure purchase orders are tracked and closed out.
- · Provide purchasing support to other departments as needed.
- · Ensure that product specifications, Statements of Work, or other procurement specifications are effectively communicated to the supplier. Forward and coordinate requests for deviation, etc. to the Supply Chain Manager or Engineering Manager.
- · Input all purchase orders issued into the M-1 ERP system and ensure all records and transactions are promptly and correctly recorded. Ensure that all requisitions and/or purchase orders issued are entered and tracked in the purchase order system.
- · Electronically file all purchase orders, requisitions and supporting documentation in the project purchasing department file. Distribute purchase orders as outlined in company procedures.
- · Ensure that all product data, catalog data, shop drawings, material certifications, and any other required submittal data are specified in purchase order documents (including purchase agreements and purchase orders).
- · Participate in a review of procurement status for all jobs and projects with the Supply Chain Manager. Be prepared to identify procurement problems and discuss solutions or alternatives. Maintain and utilize responsible sources of supply for all products and services, especially those for repetitively purchased products and services.
