Department: Marketing and Product Development
Reports to: General Manager and Vice President
Summary:
Oversee the artistic design of printed material, photo shoots, and advertisements. Ensure the quality of the finished product. He/she directs the work of the department designers to unify the vision of concepts and branding.
Job Details:
· Product research and development. Assists the Marketing Director, as needed, in the research of competitors and in research of new product development.
· Develop new and existing products. Assists the Marketing Director, as needed, in the development of new products and refreshing of old products. Confers with the Marketing Director to determine objectives, which may include styles, techniques, and design solutions.
· Develop company’s sales and marketing collateral. Works with Marketing Director and Copywriter in the development of brochures, guidebooks, catalogs, order forms, tradeshow material, and packaging. If not directly involved in the development of material, assigns duties and tasks to department designers. Reviews all designer material and makes suggestions and edits, as needed. Works to maintain consistent product branding. As needed, assists digital media and IT departments with graphics, or delegates to a designer.
· Staff. Assists in the hiring of design staff. Trains staff as needed.
· Manage archival data. Collects completed work from designers and maintains an organized archival system.,
· Stays current. Must keep up-to-date with technology, design trends, illustrations, colors, etc., and apply new knowledge to the job.
· Software and hardware management. Reviews technology needs of department designers. Trouble shoots software issues with designers. Works with purchasing and computer operations manager to update computers, other hardware, and software, as needed.
· Quality control. Reviews design/print files before going to press and all PDF file for outsourcing, to ensure error-free files. Conducts press-checks, if needed. Solve other pre-press related issues. Must understand issues and nuances of designing material for press or digital media, in order to create the highest quality material.
Skills:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills – able to judge multiple projects whirl meeting demanding deadlines, producing high quality work. Works well independently or with team members.
· Proficient in InDesign or QuarkXpress, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe Acrobat.
· Great attention to detail.
· Understands customers and their needs at every stage of the customer’s journey.
· Strong knowledge of the marketing and advertising industry.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
