The controller is an essential role that manages the day-to-day accounting and office operations while also planning for future growth/expansion. This position requires a person to wear many hats, multi-task, and prioritize.
Job Duties:
- Responsible for daily accounts payable entry, invoice approval, sending wires as needed, weekly check run, monthly statement reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, setting up and managing auto payments, handling invoice discrepancies; paying long-term liabilities
- Responsible for money movement between accounts based on cash flow needs while considering interest rates
- Responsible for overseeing the payroll position and being the back-up as needed
- Responsible for daily generation of invoices and sending out invoices timely and generating monthly finance charges
- Entering and sending purchase orders for items needed by staff and planning those orders to arrive when needed
- Overseeing monthly inventory counts to maintain accurate inventory numbers and researching discrepancies
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Maintaining fixed assets
- Develop and maintain financial controls and procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data
- Annual budget creation based on historical information and growth/expansion plans. Collaborate with the owner and team to help establish a budget. Monitor and analyze variances between actual results and budget/forecast
- Annual coordination of audit/tax returns with CPA firm to include producing documents and answering questions
- Daily order entry from customers to include quoting
- Tax and compliance reporting to ensure timely and accurate completion of all regulatory reporting requirements
- Oversee all aspects of the company's financial operations and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making
- Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Business required. Master's degree or CPA license preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of previous controller experience
- Must work well in a team setting.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (including bank feeds), Excel, Outlook, and Word. Ability to learn other software as needed. Enjoys learning new technology and implementing new processes to make workflows easier.
- Suggests process and job flow improvements to help management and staff; ability to implement those improvements with ease
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Proficient in financial analysis techniques and tools
- Ability to forecast financial trends and make recommendations based on analysis
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to convey information, concisely, and effectively at all times.
- Excellent planning, organizational, time/project management skills; keen attention to detail; prioritize/multi tasks under deadlines; can adapt to business changes; solid problem solver
- Proactive in business affairs; exercises good judgment, anticipates and troubleshoots issues with ease and confidence

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
