Description & Scope:
Construction company located in Hamilton, NJ has a position open for a full-time controller. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in construction accounting and financial management, including very strong analytical skills, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This position will report directly to the CFO and other senior leaders of management and must have at least 5 years of experience as a controller.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all functions of the accounting department
- Oversee and manage accounting staff consisting of staff accountant and AR/AP/payroll clerks , ensuring timely and accurate processing of information
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings
- Coordinate with project managers and other members of management to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Participate in project management meetings
- Coordinate with accountants for year-end taxes and financials
Additional Job Candidate Qualities:
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Viewpoint and Microsoft Office Suite
- 5 years of controller experience required
