The Infection Control Nurse will have oversight of all infection control and prevention related activities within the facility. Performs infection prevention risk assessments and surveillance to comply with regulating agencies.
The purpose of your job position is to help prevent and identify the spread of infectious agents like bacteria and viruses in the environment in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards that govern the facility, and as directed by your supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with planning, development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and revision of Infection Prevention and Control Program goals, standards, policies and procedures.
- Coordinates interdepartmental efforts to improve performance of infection prevention/control programs and services.
- Reports communicable diseases and supporting laboratory data to the local, state and national health departments as required.
- Participates in the development and review of Infection Prevention and Control Standards of Care, Policy and Procedure for assigned areas.
- Provides in-service education for the facility as needed
- Provides expert review and consultation for facility construction/remodels, and/or new patient care equipment.
- Other duties as needed
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum one (1) year as an Infection Control Professional in a SNF
- High School Diploma or General Education Development(GED) required
- LVN or RN license required
