What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts & Service Director position at Confidential?
We are a domestic dealership looking for an experienced Automotive Parts & Service Director to add to our growing dealership. This individual must be a strong leader who runs an efficient and profitable parts and service department, and focuses on team-building and servicing customers.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the performance of the service and parts departments
- Forecast goals and objectives for both parts and service departments and strives to meet them
- Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the service and parts departments
- Maintain reporting systems required by general management and the factory
- Hire, train, motivate and monitor the performance of the service and parts department personnel
- Foster professional employee development and coordinate with department managers to determine need for advanced training
- Understand, keep abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know
- Understand and ensure compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures
- Make customer satisfaction a department priority, ensuring that service and parts personnel are courteous and respectful in their interaction with customers
- Maintain high-quality service repairs and minimize comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
- Handle customer complaints immediately and according to dealership's guidelines
- Administer warranty claims, review warranty policy adjustments, understand and apply warranty guidelines, ensure correct processing of claims and communicate warranty information and clarifications to customers
- Develop dealership service and parts pricing plans and recommend them to dealer or general manager
- Keep abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommend purchases
- Serve as liaison with factory representatives
Qualifications
- 3 years experience as a Parts and/or Service Manager within a franchised dealership
- Well-versed within the parts and service departments
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Prior experience managing a team or in a supervisory capacity
- A team player who is focused on providing exemplary customer service
- Great customer service skills
- Detail oriented, teamwork driven, and organized
- Ability to work well in a process driven environment
- Professional appearance and work ethic
- High school diploma or equivalent
