What Will You Do?

The Role:

We are seeking a Director of Content Marketing to join our team. We are looking for candidates with proven ability to lead a robust content marketing engine to drive brand awareness, engagement, and move prospective customers along their path to purchase. This person will increase web traffic and generate leads through the creation and marketing of content online. They will oversee an editorial team, the creation and distribution of content, develop and ensure delivery to a calendar, and deliver measurably impactful content. 

A winning candidate will require a mix of strategic, analytical, and tactical skills. The ideal candidate will understand target personas and the customer journey, be SEO-savvy, and be able to deliver develop truly helpful, enticing content.  They will prioritize content development in a fast-paced environment; with often multiple competing requests. This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a content strategy aligned with short-term and long-term marketing targets.
  • Lead a team of internal and external content writers, including English and Spanish-language writers, to develop content that is engaging and SEO optimized.
  • Develop a content marketing program that delivers measurable customer value (not just clicks) and is tracked via web analytics and conversion to ensure content engagement levels. Ensure content that drives increases in traffic and engagement that translates into sales and brand awareness.
  • Serve as the in-house head editor for content, including partnerships with leading trade publications, guest blogs and other link building opportunities.
  • Develop standards, systems, and creative methodologies (both human and technological) for content creation, distribution, storage, maintenance, retrieval, and content repurposing.
  • Manage the content marketing budget.
  • Support and occasionally write press releases and other media communications promoting the company and its brands, including key internal communications to employees.
  • Manage the content calendar and develop a roadmap for content that aligns against integrated marketing initiatives like campaigns, product launches, and promotions. Set a winning, coherent mix of content across website, blogs, social media, white papers, scripts, newsletters, and email nurture campaigns
  • Learn from internal results data and external sources to identify best practices.

The Perfect Match:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or comparable discipline.
  • Insurance industry and/or bilingual capability (Spanish) a plus
  • 10 years in content marketing.
  • A firm understanding of user experience and strong search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) skills
  • Ability to take complex information and communicate it clearly in simple and understandable language for our target audiences.
  • Editing background to ensure that content is accurate and effectively written. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with content marketing platforms such as Wordpress, Hubspot, and similar; advanced understanding of HTML and ability to impact it via such platforms.
  • Experience writing content for both digital and traditional platforms.
  • Strong teamwork skills in order to work collaboratively with marketing team and other department managers. Experience working successfully with cross-functional teams and external agencies.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • As a plus, experience with online community building including social media.
