The Auditor conducts audits of Credit Union operations to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, accuracy of financial records and efficiency of operations; provides documentation of the Credit Union's internal control environment; reports findings and makes recommendations.

Where you will have an impact:

  • Performs assigned audit procedures and recommends enhancements to the Credit Union's operating systems.
  • Performs evaluations of the Credit Union's internal control systems by maintenance of permanent files incorporating narrative descriptions, flowcharts, memos, etc.; reports findings and recommendations.
  • Performs financial audit procedures on the Credit Union's records and reports findings and recommendations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

What You Bring to the Table:

Qualifications and Skills required

  • Two years to five years of similar or related experience
  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in accounting/finance
  • Credit Union or US Banking experience is a must.
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature.
  • Work may involve motivating or influencing others.
  • Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.

Other Skills

  • Solid knowledge in all areas of accounting and audit procedures and the ability to work independently; certification as a certified public accountant or a certified internal auditor preferred.
  • Must have a working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software; must be able to PC and all types of general office equipment.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  • Must maintain information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Must be bonded and maintain an acceptable personal credit history.
