We are hiring a Registered Nurse for our COE unit. This position assesses consumers and documents pertinent information including Triage, Behavioral Health, Physical Health, and/or Substance Abuse issues. Demonstrates knowledge of Crisis Intervention and the ability to de-escalate potentially aggressive situations and will provide education to consumers and their families regarding Behavioral Health diagnosis, medications, and treatments.
Responsibilities
- Assigned to the court ordered evaluation (COE) unit and demonstrates a fundamental understanding of COE and court ordered treatment (COT) processes in alignment with A.R.S. Title 36.
- Assess consumers and documents pertinent information including Triage, Medical/Behavioral Health assessments and medication administration utilizing appropriate assessment tools. Accurately record all medication brought in by patient on medication reconciliation/storage form.
- Plans consumer treatment as part of the Multidisciplinary Clinical team.
- Provides education concerning Psychiatric diagnosis, treatment options and psychopharmacology to consumers, families and all others involved in the consumer’s care.
- Intervenes with appropriate verbal interventions to diffuse out of control or potentially dangerous behaviors. Demonstrates ability to effectively use therapeutic option theory and technique and can describe and demonstrate their roles and responsibilities.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Seclusion/Restraint standards, guidelines, techniques; Initiate documentation and debriefing with consumers for any seclusion/restraint incidents as required.
- Accurately transcribes Provider orders and administers medications as prescribed. Attempt to have patient sign medication consent form. Performs chart checks and signs off as a second noted on medications prescribed. Draw labs and provide wound care as ordered by Providers when required.
- Complete nurse to nurse at discharge or when accepting patient from another facility.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

- RN 1: Recent graduate of nursing program, less than 2 years nursing experience. Supporting level team members working to understand processes and procedures.
- RN 2: Associates or BSN, 2-4 years nursing experience, 2 years behavioral health. Established performer who proactively builds relationships
- RN 3: BSN, 4 years nursing, 4 years behavioral health. High level performer with ability to lead processes and projects
- RN 4: BSN, 6 years nursing; 6 years behavioral health; 2 years Crisis/CHS
- RN 5: BSN or MSN, 10 years nursing, 10 years behavioral heather; 5 years crisis/CHS
Supervisory Responsibilities

- At RN 3 or above, may assume leadership and supervisory responsibilities for other nurses on the unit. May assume leadership roles to ensure patient safety and flow through the facility and manage escalated or complex issues.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduated from an accredited Nursing program with licensure by the Arizona Board of Nursing.
- Unrestricted license as Registered Nurse through the Arizona State Board of Nursing
- 1 year of psychiatric, behavioral health or relevant experience, particularly providing behavioral health services to adults over the age of 65, individuals with substance abuse, individuals who are seriously mentally ill, individuals who have co-occurring disorder, and/or individuals who may be victims or perpetrators of domestic violence, 3 years preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency: Microsoft Office Software, Electronic Health Records, Internet Browsers and Searches
- Ability to demonstrate awareness and respect for cultural, lifestyle, age, gender, and sexual orientation diversities of clients and staff; apply knowledge of age, gender, and multi-cultural counseling skills.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years of psychiatric, behavioral health or relevant experience
- Previous emergency room or crisis psychiatric care experience
- Familiarity with Court Ordered Treatment process.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- 1 year experience working in court ordered evaluation (COE) and court ordered treatment (COT) setting
- Certified training (CPR First Aid, therapeutic options, etc.)
- Spanish language proficiency
