What You'll Do
As an Engineering Quality Control Specialist for Tooling and Tester Design and SNMT, responsibilities include coordinating configuration management activities, assessing system health and performance, and providing overall change control responsibility for Special Tooling design definition and related documents. The position reviews and approves configuration management tasks for design tasks; maintains requirement flow down matrix for Tooling Design documents; evaluates health metrics; identifies and performs improvement activities with various groups and customers.
The position also provides quality control for Special Tooling design documents and support to various organizations within the Pantex plant. This role oversees change control of Tooling Design business documents and the related configuration management software. Health metrics for the business related to Special Tooling will also be developed and maintained by the Engineering Quality Control Specialist. Additionally, the Engineering Quality Control Specialist will assist with causal analysis, extent of condition identification and review and corrective action plans. The position may also include coordination of assessments and other tracked actions assigned to the department. This position requires direct interface with numerous groups and customers, including Production Integration, Operations, Quality, Mission Assurance as well as the NNSA Production Office and DNFSB, as necessary.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- OR a Master’s degree
- Eight or more years of relevant education, training, and/or progressive experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2)
Preferred Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a technical and/or business-related discipline combined with at least seven years of related experience. However, a combination of education and related experience where knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position’s duties and accountabilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.
- The position requires an understanding of Configuration Management, Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance for Special Tooling within a nuclear regulated environment
- The position requires an understanding of requirement flow down into related business documents, including the Documented Safety Analysis (DSA)
- The position requires an understanding of causal analysis and mistake proofing (CA/MP) methods and the ability to identify and implement needed business improvements
- The ability to evaluate and provide feedback on change control and related configuration management software
- Able to make informed decisions and support those decisions to peers and senior management
- A general understanding of the Special Tooling program and PDMLink software for the configuration management of Special Tooling design definition
