What You'll Do

Conduct Assessments, Performance Testing, Issues Management, Procedure writing, and Training Program activities to determine compliance with Nuclear Material Control & Accountability (NMC&A) requirements and performance standards of NMC&A topical areas. Activities will be in accordance with the Y-12 MC&A Plan and DOE O 474.2., to determine the overall status of the Safeguards and Security (S&S) program and verify that S&S objectives are met. The candidate may conduct MC&A trending analyses of deficiencies to determine causal factors and participate in the development of associated corrective action plans to address these causal factors. The position duties will include coordinating the MC&A schedule, writing self-assessment scope, performance test plans, procedures, and formal reports describing each self-assessment activity. This position will be required to interface with multiple issues management systems. The individual will be required to interface and have access to NMC&A related systems including ME / DYMCAS. The successful candidate must be an organized, team player, self-motivated with report writing capabilities and strong analytical skills. The individual may represent the MC&A department on the Issues Management Board (IMB). The position necessitates that the individual be flexible in the ability to transition work assignments as needed based on S&S priorities.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
  • Master's degree: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • PhD
  • OR twelve or more years of relevant education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Knowledgeable of Safeguards & Security and NMC&A requirements
  • Experience using issues management systems TOPIC and/or SSTARS
  • Past experience with Performance Testing and Assessment processes
  • UCNI Reviewing Official and Derivative Classifier qualifications
  • Ability to resolve complex issues, strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written communications skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills, with ability to multi-task
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software applications, including Windows, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
