Job Description
Position Summary:
Under oversight of the attorneys within the Legal Department, this individual will provide guidance and support to business units related to alcohol beverage trade practices and litigation and dispute resolution. Ideal candidate will have experience working within the heavily regulated (federal, state and local) matrix of the U.S. beverage alcohol laws and experience in commercial dispute resolution.
Responsibilities
- Provide litigation and dispute resolution support to in-house attorneys and outside counsel on litigation topics including but not limited to commercial litigation, contract disputes, franchise litigation and employment disputes
- Prepare legal holds, refreshes and releases
- Responsible for tracking, recording and maintaining data related to legal holds in partnership with legal hold custodians, corporate risk management and IT
- Conduct factual investigations associated with litigation matters and other disputes
- Consult with business units on responses to discovery requests and draft initial responses with appropriate objections
- Analyze document requests and procure relevant documents related to litigation and dispute matters; requires working with the IT Department, outside counsel and e-discovery service providers
- Manage quarterly litigation report process, including working with attorneys and Accounting Department personnel on related accruals.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for Constellation’s legal hold policy and procedures, e-discovery best practices and Constellation’s electronically stored information.
- Other tasks and projects as may, from time to time, be assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years relevant experience in law firm required, experience in corporate legal department strongly desired.
- Bachelor’s degree required, a Paralegal Certificate strongly desired.
- Familiarity with state and federal alcohol beverage laws and regulations desired.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate well across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to think independently to develop and recommend viable solutions to problems and issues.
- Must be detail-oriented with strong project management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Must be diligent with tasks follow-up and have the ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
- Must be committed to ensuring that the Legal Department is providing excellent business focused service with a focus on continued improvement.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours (i.e., working late, through lunch, weekends as necessary) as business needs dictate. Minimal travel required.

- Must be able to travel by plane or train for long distance.
- Must be able to work in a professional corporate office environment.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
- Must have close vision, distant vision, ability to adjust focus, peripheral and color vision.
- Must be able sit and/or stand for long periods of time, and work on a computer for extended periods.
