Position Overview: The Route Driver is responsible for driving company vehicle over an established route or carry out any special project/task assigned up to and including, remerchandising, auditing, training etc... These assignments could be performed in the field at customer locations or in our facilities and would be caused by vacations, Employee Sickness/Injury, training, coaching, location inspections and position opening etc. The jump driver will assist in filling needs within the route, warehouse, OCS, shuttle service, vault, machine movement and implementation of company directives/acquisitions. The schedule, days/times (variable work week) and geographical location will vary based on the task at hand, the driver is to ensure customer satisfaction for their assigned client(s) in addition to data integrity. This includes identifying and obtaining information from customers, anticipating their needs and fulfilling their expectations through the delivery and stocking of products as well as the general maintenance of space and equipment at each point of sale in their assigned route.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Merchandising: Merchandise products according to plan-o-grams. Roll-out promotions. Obtain and report customer feedback. Maintain inventory levels for all products sold, to include, but not limited to soft drinks, candy, pastry, and snack items. Count, record inventory. Restock vending spirals. Follow protocols for inventory tracking and rotating of product. Collect and record out-of-date, rejected or unsold merchandise. Monitors shelf life of products, to minimize spoilage losses.
- Product Delivery: Load and unload products using proper safety protocols to prevent injury. Drive vehicle to points of sale to deliver merchandise. Maintain open lines of communication with management regarding account product changes and recommended scheduling changes.
- Cash Handling/Security: Collect money from vending machines. Replaces bill changers and refill coin tubes utilizing handheld or similar device. Follow cash handling and loss prevention protocols to ensure personal and property safety. Record transactions on appropriate forms and/or handheld device. Monitor and report any activity that seems out of the norm or raises specific concern about potential misconduct.
- Food Safety & Sanitation: Ensure proper handling and refrigeration of all perishable items during transit and while stocking products. Ensure coolers maintain appropriate temperatures to store products. Perform routine cleaning, to include, but not limited to vending machines, coffee machines and microwaves. Communicate any issues of concern to management such as customer issues, cleanliness, safety concerns, or security concerns.
- Machine Maintenance: Conduct minor repairs and adjustments on machines such as removal of bent coins and jammed products. Immediately report more complex machine issues to Service Central for repair. Complete minor vending equipment repairs & test vending equipment to ensure proper function.
- Warehouse support: Assist with inventory counts and order pulls. Receive and process incoming merchandise. Prepare orders by pulling materials according to invoice packing boxes and placing orders in delivery area. Manage, organize and retrieve merchandise within the warehouse
- Tools of the Trade: Proper usage of handheld, PPE, Account access badges, company vehicles, cell phones is required
- Inventory: Full inventory counts must be competed regularly.
- Additional: Projects and assignments as needed.
Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
- High-School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to pass DOT physical requirements
- Clean driving record
- Chauffeur’s license
- Prior experience driving a 16 ft box truck or similar
- Prior retail experience and familiarization with basic merchandising concepts strongly preferred.
- Basic Computer Skills –iPad, handheld scanner, smart phone, and other technology.
Physical Demands:
- Climbing in-and-out of a vehicle
- Loading and unloading products from the vehicle.
- Bending, stooping, pulling/pushing, and twisting required.
- Walking and standing required for long periods
- Regular lifting 25-50 pounds
