The Accounts Payable Specialist is a key contributor to ensuring that all invoices for the organization are properly approved, processed and paid in a timely manner. In addition, this role is responsible to support business improvement by meeting personal and departmental goals and objectives timely and effectively.
Essential Functions:
Process vendor invoices and expense reports ensuring general ledger coding is entered accurately, proper documentation is provided, and appropriate approvals have taken place.
Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of vendor payments, expense checks, manual checks and ACH payments.
Obtain W9's for all new vendors and verify against information on the IRS tax website.
Set up new vendors in Lawson accurately with proper payment terms.
Review weekly cash requirements report for accuracy prior to weekly check run.
Maintain system of filing for all open and paid invoices while adhering to company retention policies.
Provide support to others throughout the organization on accounts payable processes, general ledger coding and vendor related issues.
Assist with providing audit documentation and research as needed.

Knowledge and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
3-5 years accounts payable experience in an automated environment, with direct vendor contacts.
Experience with the Transportation Industry a plus.
Excellent PC skills required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; accounts payable software a plus, MHC document viewer a plus.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, and ability to resolve problems.
High attention to detail, organization skills and ability to multi-task.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Able to lift items up to 20 pounds.
