What are the responsibilities and job description for the Per Diem Clinic Nurse position at Convenient MD?
The RN is a Registered Nurse functioning under the Medical Direction of Convenient MD. The RN is the lead clinical team member on for each of his or her shifts. The RN will work closely with other clinical team members such as LPN’s, MA’s, AEMT’s, EMT’s, RT’s and TT’s to help guide them to correct implementation of medical processes and procedures. The RN is provided with the education and skills of advanced patient assessment for the management of various medical illnesses and traumatic injuries, airway management, intravenous therapy, and pharmacological interventions
Job Responsibilities:
- Patient triage, to include but not limited to: vital signs; medical history; observational examination
- Assist with any and all patient exams, testing and procedures under the direction of the provider (i.e. I&Ds, pelvic exams, splinting, casting, joint injection preparation, etc.)
- Assist with the following testing & procedures: a. Vision testing b. Hearing/audiometry testing c. Urine drug screen testing d. Breath alcohol testing e. Lift testing f. Peak flow testing g. Pulmonary function testing (spirometry h. Impact Testing i. Ear Irrigation j. Eye wash flushing & irrigation with Morgan Lens k. Wound soaking and cleansing l. Tuberculosis screening m. Point of care testing: Strep, FLU, RSV, SARs-CoV-2, Capillary Glucose, Mono, HCG, Urinalysis, FOBT/Guaiac, Lipid Panel (obtained via CardioChek Analyzer), Chemistry & CBC
- Sterile technique in wound care management, dressing application, trauma patients, burn care and instrument cleaning and sterilization
- Suture & staple removal
- Blood draw/phlebotomy
- Insert & monitor peripheral venous access
- Airway management through nebulizer treatment, oral suctioning, oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal airway, oxygen administration & ventilation with AMBU bag
- Cardiac Management through application of 12 Lead ECG, CPR-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and defibrillation by AED
- Prepare & Dispense PD-Rx medications (ME & NH)
- Administration of immunizations
- Medication administration as outlined by the CMD Registered Nurse scope of practice
- Administration of hot & cold packs
- Assist with patient call backs to include, but not limited to, answering of patient questions, reporting test results, medication/therapy changes
- Assist with calling in prescriptions to patient requested pharmacy

- Ensures operation of clinical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; calling for repairs or reporting repair needs to clinic PM
- Assists in maintaining adequate clinical supplies inventory by checking & notating when stock levels are low
- Keeps work area and exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly
- Maintains accurate, complete records & reports
- Documents patient education and care in EMR and all other applicable areas
- Interact with patients in a positive and helpful manner, provide information and assistance as needed
- Maintains confidentiality with all patient information by upholding HIPAA laws and rules
- Complies with all ConvenientMD policies, protocols & procedures
- Participates in the training of new team members
- Other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications:
- Two years of experience preferred; urgent care or ED experience preferred
- Licensed RN
- AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification Preferred; American Red Cross BLS Certification Accepted
- Experience placing and monitoring IV’s required
- Must be able to work 12hr shifts and weekends
