What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician-2 position at Cooper Standard?
Position Summary:
Performs a variety of technician level duties in the test laboratory including but not limited to setting up and running tests, reporting test results, and troubleshooting testing problems.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Performs mechanical testing on a variety of product types or components involving running test lab equipment while following written procedures, methods, and/or instructions
- Conducts tests, maintains records of work performed, verifies data, summarizes and reports results
- Works within established laboratory procedures and practices with a moderate degree of supervision
- Assists in ensuring the availability of adequate supplies and equipment
- Must operate in a manner that reinforces, supports, and is consistent with the Cooper Standard Leadership Model
- Ensures 6S, housekeeping and health and safety standards are maintained
- May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description
Education and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Two Year College Degree or applicable Technical Training and Certification is preferred
- Two to four years of relevant work experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude, as well as technical and analytical problem-solving skills
- Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis and perform tasks while standing for extended periods
- Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary
Work Environment/Work Conditions:
- Professional Office Environment
- Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor
- Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required
- Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury
