Job Summary:

Responsible for the coordination, organization, staffing, revenue production, cost control, supervision and efficient operation of 24 lifts and up to 200 lift operators, access operators, The Tubing Hill and Rocky Mountain Coaster and all summer activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Train and supervise all employees in the operation to ensure proper operation of this area. Focus on overall safety, positive guest interactions and max uphill capacity
  • Be knowledgeable of winter and summer operations of lifts, mazes and all activities.
  • Establish and conduct an effective hiring strategy to include recruiting, evaluation of applicants, interviews, and final selection of staff.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with strategic partner departments, such as Ski Patrol, Lift Maintenance, Slope Maintenance, Competitions, Ski & Ride School and Woodward.
  • Assist lift operations manager in the development and implementation of an initial and on-going quality training programs in compliance with federal, state, and company regulations and guidelines.
  • Monitor the day-to-day performance of lift, coaster, tubing, access operators and summer activities to maintain the highest level of guest welfare and employee satisfaction. Ensure an above average rating on the guest satisfaction surveys.
  • Meet with assigned Crew Leaders on a biweekly basis to discuss department/company welfare and personal needs, in an attempt to improve communication, commitment, understanding and search for improvement during winter and summer.
  • Responsible for the design and construction of load, unload ramps, mazes and summer operation areas and structures.
  • Prepare schedules on a weekly basis to accommodate special events, holidays and scheduled lift opening and closings.
  • Prepare all employee paperwork such as activations, transfers, additional job classes, wage increases and promotions, terminations, attendance, corrective action notices and all training records.
  • Evaluate employees and conduct performance appraisals at mid-season and end of the season for all lift operations staff to include the determination of an end-of-season retention bonus for winter and summer
  • Assist the Lift Operations Manager in all annual budget and departmental business planning and in the planning of long and short term goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and handle Lift Dispatch for lift related problems, breakdowns and no starts. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EdgeAuditor.
  • Enter, review and sign off on all employees hours-worked, in time keeping program, for payroll accuracy and to monitor overtime.
  • Review daily lift logs and communicate to lift maintenance any noted deficiencies in compliance with the requirements of regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain all daily lift logs and prepare for the unannounced CPTSB inspection.
  • Responsible for the daily maintenance of loading, unloading, and maze areas of each lift.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule with slope maintenance to ensure that ramps and mazes are kept to exact standards to provide efficient access and egress at all mazes and lifts. This includes special nighttime dozing projects.
  • Maintain the locker room, all motor rooms, lift houses, signs, and maze structures to ensure a professional appearance.
  • Assist Ski Patrol in communicating to our skiing guests all lift and terrain openings or closings.
  • Be able to communicate thoroughly about summer activity closures due to weather.
  • Be currently trained in areas of mountain emergency situations such as lift evacuation and the Mountain Emergency Response Plan.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents when lifts are involved, to ensure all facts and evidence is preserved in the event of possible litigation. Assist in the completion of all employee witness statements and documentation.
  • Handle any guest complaint or problem in a professional manner to ensure guest satisfaction and a return visit.
  • Responsible for the inventory control and repair of all lift operation's tools, equipment, snow blowers and snowmobiles.
  • Initiate and coordinate special departmental recognition programs such as the In the Moment Now program, Atta-boy program, Real Deal program, Employee of the Week and the Playmaker of the Month programs.
  • Prepare and oversee the daily check-in and work assignments of all operators and access operators to ensure all lifts and mazes are properly staffed and open on time. Oversee the daily check-out of all employees to ensure their safe return at day's end.
  • Assist in company-wide special events that involve lifts and tubing hill, such as torchlight ski parades, special events and employee gatherings.
  • Oversee the training, staffing and daily operation of the Lifts and Access Operations for the Fall Race Program and Spring Race program.
  • Supervise the construction and maintenance of the load and unload ramps.
  • Supervise and assemble summer activities.
  • Assist in the supervision of the Rocky Mountain Coaster operation and all other winter and summer activities.

Requirements:

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a criminal background check will be conducted after position is accepted. This background check will be done in accordance with standards enacted under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Preferred Experience and Special Skills:

  • High school diploma and minimum 2 years college.
  • 3 years' lift operations experience.
  • 2 years' foreman/crew leader experience in lift operations or other relatable supervisory experience.
  • Lift maintenance and/or lift construction knowledge or experience.
  • Supervisory and leadership skills: has lead groups, supervised employees, and conducted discipline and performance appraisals.
  • Previous snowmobile operation experience.
  • Skilled in hand & power tool use; wood construction experience.
  • Knowledge of risk management and regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of lift access and egress design and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of tubing operations and mountain coaster.
