POSITION SUMMARY:
The Scheduler, Production is based at the Totowa, NJ plant and reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager. This position is responsible for scheduling the plant in the best manner to satisfy customer requirements, maintain the highest level of efficiency in production, and minimize operational costs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop weekly production schedule in accordance with sales forecast, plant and employee capacity, and customer orders.
- Supervise and train junior production scheduler(s) and monitor progress toward achieving those goals.
- Participate in weekly production scheduling call with key stake holders to align on production sequence and priorities.
- Lead escalation process regarding potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials are aligned in accordance with priorities.
- Serve as primary liaison to centralized Demand and Supply Planning teams communicating product shortages and provide options and/or timelines for replenishing materials.
- Drive root cause analysis and problem solving individually and cross-functionally.
- Provide daily update on attainment and service measures and production priorities.
- Maintain data relevant to production scheduling and material requirements planning activities
- Follow all GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), Safety, and Environmental regulations as well as company policies.
- Maintain positive attitude. Focus on the customer, teamwork, and quality productivity.
- Give recommendations to work efficient and better serve the customer.
- Actively observe for unsafe conditions; control the situation and report the issue. Give recommendations to improve workplace safety and efficiency. Address unsafe behaviors in a courteous manner. Stop work if safe conditions are compromised.
- Actively participate in safety activities and safety subcommittees
- Report all incidents and injuries promptly, including possible work-related pain or other symptoms. Incidents include unsafe situations/acts and near misses.
- Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in related field preferred
- Five (5) years of experience in manufacturing planning.
- Knowledgeable in OMP and LX (or similar) ERP system. SAP experience preferrable.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Manufacturing plant is large, open floor areas with loud machinery, requiring some areas for workers to wear ear protection to guard against noise. Workers are frequently exposed to high temperatures during the summer months. Some work in cold environments during winter months. Production/Warehouse areas are dusty.
- Workers are required to wear masks, hair nets, or gloves to protect the product from possible contamination. Certain areas require respirators.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time on occasion.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department, plant floor, and warehouse facility within New Jersey organization.
