Senior Food Technologist

The Food Microbiology & Preservation R&D team plays a key role in the investigation and development of new solutions that will contribute to the execution of the ambitious growth strategy of Corbion in the Natural Preservation Business. The team of experts works on both modeling and preservation solutions in the form of functional food ingredients that are key to the safety, shelf life, and overall properties of food. The Technologist will contribute to the innovation projects as well as customer support according to the business needs. The Technologist will be in a team with other technologists and scientists.

Responsibilities:

• Execution of innovation projects and customer support projects with minimal supervision.
• Uphold the safety and order of the BSL-2 microbiology lab.
• Active participation in designing experiments for innovation and customer projects.
• Assist in preparing the project protocols, planning, and executing the research in consultation with scientists.
• Ensure accurate documentation of project results according to Corbion standards.
• Assist scientists in preparing detailed project reports.
• Analyze, interpret, and process results of analyses or experiments, monitor results during research, and discuss results and conclusions with the microbiology team, manager, and project team.
• Actively participate in maintaining the facilities, equipment, and safety in the labs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or related fields. An advanced degree is a plus, but not required.
• Experience working in a BSL-2 lab and understanding of basic microbiology aseptic techniques and laboratory equipment.
• 1 years of technical experience/development work with a major food or food ingredient company.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a team.
• Basic knowledge about food processing is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
• Ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences concerning technical and business needs.
• Must have excellent problem-solving skills.
• Possess a general understanding of food lab analytical equipment.
