The Quality Control Supervisor is based at the Totowa, NJ plant and reports directly to the Quality Manager. This position is responsible for the quality process including critical process characteristics, standards, audits and complaints resolutions, Ensures team’s goals are aligned and representative of the overall company’s directive. Additionally, this position will provide leadership to a group of laboratory employees. Of critical importance is a complete understanding that manufacturing is responsible for consistently delivering within the following areas; cost and productivity, consumer perceived quality, regulatory compliance, customer service and people development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices)/GLP's (Good Laboratory Practice), FSMA, Safety, and Environmental regulations as well as company policies.
- Maintain positive attitude. Focus on the customer, teamwork, and quality productivity.
- Be responsible for all Lab employees and Lab safety.
- Make sure proper customer contacts are made and maintained whenever existing or new products require customer input. Provides support services to customer for gauging, measuring techniques and tolerance specifications when required.
- Direct workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over the quality of raw materials, facilities and products.
- Assist in planning, support and coordination of quality assurance program to ensure product and quality systems meet customer specifications and trains quality workforce in quality techniques and tools to ensure product requirements.
- Communicate shift performance through verbal, documented and meeting formats to other team leaders, production scheduler, Plant Manager, Business Manager and Maintenance team leader.
- Approve production testing.
- Hold meetings and lead RCA and CAPA's for all non-conforming product.
- Prepare/review trending reports for quality control testing.
- Lead Daily Quality Meeting to review KPI'S
- Conduct Gauge R&R studies.
- Approve raw material shelf-life extensions.
- AVT create specifications for new and existing products.
- Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelors’ of Arts (BA) or Bachelors’ of Science (BS) in a science discipline and experience in a food or pharmaceutical facility.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a food or pharmaceutical facility with similar applications.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in supervisory role.
- Experience in food programs, including but not limited to HACCP, GMP’s, SPC as well as exposure to a TPM environment.
- Experience with SAP.
- Lean-Six Sigma Certification preferred
- Travel and on-call availability are required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Manufacturing plant is large, open floor areas with loud machinery, with some areas requiring hearing protection due to elevated noise levels.
- Workers may be exposed to elevated temperatures during the summer months; and some work may be required in cold environments during winter months.
- Workers are required to wear GMP compliant hair and beard nets, company-provided uniforms, and gloves to protect the product from possible contamination. Certain areas require respirators.
