POSITION SUMMARY:
The Warehouseman based at the Totowa, NJ plant. This union position plays a key role in assuring that work center operators are supplied with first-time-right ingredients to produce functional blends for our customers in the bakery industry.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), FSMA, Safety, and Environmental regulations as well as company policies.
- Receiving and put-away ingredients.
- Weighing out various types of raw materials less than a full pack size according to formula. This entails using a scoop to transfer weight from one container to another.
- Need to wear proper PPE depending on the types of material you are working with. They will be provided to you.
- Reconfiguring pallets by picking multiple ingredients in warehouse and re-stacking the ingredients on different pallets.
- Staging ingredients for work center operators that convert 'your' ingredients into functional blends for the customer.
- Maintain positive attitude. Focus on the customer. teamwork, and quality productivity.
- Attend and participate in training and meetings.
- Give recommendations to improve workplace safety, efficiency, and to better serve the customer.
- Use a powered industrial truck/forklift to:
- Load finished goods in trucks towards our distribution center and customers
- Unload and receive trailers from plant, tollers, and other Corbion OPCO's.
- Put away all raw materials and finished goods.
- Replenish full pallets to single pallet locations.
- Pick both full and partial pallets and stage for shipment.
- Load trailers to both customer and the plant.
- Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- Basic math and reading English for following formulas and SOPs.
- Experienced in performing electronic transactions due to physical movements of ingredients across the production facility.
- Able to drive a forklift, stand-up preferred*.
- Able to physically re-stack pallets with ingredients up to 55 pounds each.
- Work accurately and methodically.
- Good communication skills, including over the two-way radio.
- Willingness to work second or third shift with occasional weekend shifts.
- Understanding of union policies and procedures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Manufacturing plant is large, open floor areas with loud machinery, requiring some areas for workers to wear ear protection to guard against noise. Workers are frequently exposed to high temperatures during the summer months. Some work in cold environments during winter months. Production/Warehouse areas are dusty.
- Workers are required to wear masks, hair nets, or gloves to protect the product from possible contamination. Certain areas require respirators.
- Workers usually stand for the majority of their shifts while tending machines or driving a forklift. Occasionally lifts 55 pound bags or boxes. Loading, unloading, or cleaning equipment may require lifting, bending, and reaching.
