The position of a Medical Records Clerk is responsible for receiving and tracking medical records requests, sending medical records while abiding by HIPAA regulations, assisting with filing and organizing of medical records and more. The person in this position will provide support for the organization by
Typical Duties –
· Gather patient demographics and personal information
· Receive and track medical record requests that are sent in to the organization
· Distribute medical records to requesting party while maintaining organizational policies as well as laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder Patient Records (42CFR) and Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
· Assist with departmental investigations and audits
· Assist in front desk responsibilities when needed, including, working the front desk when staff are out sick or on vacation
· Maintain quality and accurate records by following organizational procedures
· Ensure patient records, paperwork and reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner
· Assist in scanning patient files into the client’s electronic health record system
· Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications –

· Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
· Proficient in computer and management programs and MS Office
· Exceptional organizational skills
· Ability to work in a team approach as well as work independently
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
