SUMMARY

Manages small to medium-size projects/programs with dedicated team(s) and individual contributors through direct reporting lines. Managerial role with accountability over one or multiple medium to large-size teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee design, build-out and startup of Laboratory space.
  • Supervises and provides leadership to staff in laboratory promoting good work habits, adhering to approved procedural, safety and quality requirements specified in company environmental and operation safety specific programs and policies.
  • Ensures staff is compliant in performing work in accordance with applicable standards and procedures. Accountable for complete accuracy of analytical tests and that they are within the defined client needs and company’s well-defined standards, procedures, and protocols.
  • Responsible for department’s compliance with all statutory, regulatory and company standards, policy, and procedures.
  • Responsible for oversight of all laboratory operations performed by support personnel such as, evaluations, workflow, QA/QC (or: quality system management), project documentation, testing, analysis, reporting for the client.
  • Responsible for preparing reports suitable for data reporting to clients, seek review of reports by manager or manager’s designated employee and once approved arrange delivery of report by electronic or printed means as required by client and meet company or audit requirement.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of applicable departmental, company and client records or documents.
  • Composes, records, and secures quotes, engagement agreements / documentation and appropriate and applicable contractual and service documentation.
  • Creates and submits to appropriate company staff all documentation and invoices for performed client services.
  • Discuss goals, expectations and provides performance feedback coaching and developing others for project and task completion, performance, or career growth.
  • Ensures subordinates are trained and are able to calibrate laboratory instruments, complete minor equipment repairs and maintain proper laboratory and equipment records.
  • Sets priorities for the immediate functional area or discipline and team to ensure project and task completion, coordinates work activities with other supervisors.
  • Participate in technical presentations to clients, industry conferences and workshops, including company consortium.
  • Partner with team to develop marketing material.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. or B.A. with major focus in science, chemistry, or STEM discipline. Equivalent years of experience may substitute for educational requirement.
  • Minimum of seven years expertise in oil and gas, chemistry, physics, production operations or related field required.
  • Knowledge of departmental quality systems and safety programs. Basic understanding and experience with Microsoft products are required.
  • Skill in mathematics up to an including University level algebraic equations and statistical analysis.
  • Skill in computation in reporting on material properties, quantities, weight, measures, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret applicable testing outcomes, reports, findings, data, and tables.
  • Ability to produce comprehensive reports, graphs, and charts, translate measurement, quantities, and concentration to laboratory units.
  • Skill in developing protocols to meet particular client needs within capability of the laboratory.
  • Skill in reading and understanding applicable laboratory analysis, quality, and safety standards in applicable languages.
  • Skill in training laboratory staff regarding testing, quality and safety protocols and practices in accordance with applicable standards, company policies and sound laboratory practice.
  • Ability to understand complex laboratory theory, supervisory concepts and the application principles of laboratory test procedures and practices.
  • Ability to understand and be familiar with laboratory set up, adjustment and operation of applicable department equipment.
  • Ability to read and communicate in the applicable language the required applicable company, statutory and regulatory documents to analyze and interpret operational, technical and safety protocols and procedures. Ability to compose applicable reports and correspondence with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate information and respond to questions from internal and external customers/clients.

Ability to walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and non-environmentally controlled storage areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

WORK SCHEDULE

Requires the ability to work a non-traditional work hours/days schedule, including overtime.

  • Requires a current vehicle operator’s license and adherence to the Company’s driving record must be maintained.
  • Must maintain applicable certification and licenses required to perform the work and meet all regulatory, statutory or company requirements
