Job Summary
Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of a building and the surrounding grounds.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces
- Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets
- Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap)
- Wipe mirrors and windows
- Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the appropriate department
- Ensure grounds areas are clean and orderly
Work Environment
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift material or equipment (typically less than 50 pounds).
- Exposure to elements - Outdoor grounds work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment assessment(s) if applicable.
Education and Experience
- Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
- Attention to detail and conscientiousness
- Very good physical condition and strength
- Mechanical and small engine repair knowledge a plus
