Director of Reinsurance Accounting

- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and statutory accounting principles (SAP) as well as internal controls and procedures. Accountabilities: Manage the reinsurance reporting process to ensure timely and accurate reporting. Ensure financial close work is done in compliance with applicable US GAAP and NAIC SAP accounting guidance as well as internal accounting policies. Manage the calculation of all reinsurance premiums and losses for all contract types (Quota Share, XOL, Catastrophe and Catastrophe Bonds. Assist in managing the preparation and analysis of monthly internal management reports. Assist in the review and completion of monthly and quarterly general ledger reconciliations. Assist in managing technology and system change and transition to new workflows. Assist in providing timely responses to internal and external audit requests. Manage the preparation of the technical business plan. Establish and maintain SOX controls to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements. Interpret accounting policies and / or authoritative literature Responsible for coaching, developing and motivating direct reports. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: recruitment and selection; employee appraisals and proactively addressing employee grievance and performance issues. It is important that these duties are carried out in accordance with Company policies and practices and in conjunction with HR. Requirements: Bachelor degree in Accounting/Finance 5 years of Reinsurance Accounting experience 3 years of management experience managing staff.
