What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Data Engineering position at COREL CORPORATION USA?

You will set strategic direction for data engineering by establishing best practices, designing/building best in the industry architectural frameworks and data governance principles.

THE ROLE:
- Work to modernize our existing tech stacks and data platforms. Think outside the box and bring new ideas to the table
- Build out the best in the industry data platform for future scale and develop robust in-house Machine Learning capabilities.
- Build and own Data reliability workstream to improve data quality and reliability of data pipelines and data products.
- Establish best practices to improve data architecture, development process and data reliability.
- Embrace and incubate emerging technology and open-source products across all platforms.
- Conduct yearly and quarterly planning to establish long term and short-term goals for horizontal data teams.
- Hire top talent to grow and nurture horizontal data engineering teams.
YOU:
- Experience with cloud data warehousing solutions such as Redshift/Snowflake, understanding of the cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), understanding of real time streaming solutions (Kinesis/Kafka/etc.).
- 10 years working in Data Engineering, business intelligence, or related data functions.
- 5 years of hand-on managerial experience including leading people through change and hiring and growing the team.
- Excellent communications and leadership skills with ability to operate in a fast-moving environment.
- Curious: Hands-on, "roll up your sleeves" collaborative style of working. Ask lots of questions.
- Hands-on approach to closing gaps in data foundations and technical execution, reinforcing development standards and best practices that guarantee high quality, trustworthy data.
- Understanding and strong advocacy for data governance and security in the cloud including compliance with the local and international government regulations.
