Job Summary Reporting to the vice president of anesthesia services the Chief Nurse Anesthetist supervises the clinical aspects of the Nurse Anesthetists and works closely with the Chief of Anesthesia and Medical Director of Operating Rooms to assure the quality and safety of anesthesia services. Works collaboratively with related departments and affiliations to coordinate daily operational functions. Provides equipment and supplies necessary for safe delivery of anesthesia. Executes the general responsibilities common to all management positions. Requires strong communication with staff and physicians. Completes administrative duties such as employee annual evaluations, assures credentialing completion for new and existing APP staff, fiscally responsible for CRNA budget (salaries/overtime) and collaborates with HR. Responsible and accountable with the Vice President for establishment and management of department capital and expense budgets. Applies process improvement techniques to improve outcomes regarding quality, patient safety, patient satisfaction, employee satisfaction and financial management. Responsible for hiring, firing, disciplinary actions, evaluations, etc. in partnership with Human Resources. Assures staff compliance with all Hospital policies and procedures. Maintains a level of proficiency in clinical practice and clinical instruction for the various patient populations. Supports the Chief of Anesthesia and Medical Director of Operating Rooms to ensure that all anesthesia services comply with all accreditation body standards (JCAHO, CMS, etc.). Actively participates on key hospital and department committees.
