About the Unit
The Lakeland Sleep Disorder and Treatment Centers in Niles and St. Joseph are designed to combine the latest treatments with a home-like atmosphere. Patients sleep in rooms that feature queen-sized beds, cable televisions, and private, accessible bathrooms in an environment that controls sound and light. Our sleep centers are accredited with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and each of our sleep lab technologists are registered with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists. We spend around one-third of our lives sleeping. Yet, experts don't know exactly why. What they do know, is that good sleep is vital to your health.
Scope of Work
Under the mentorship of a registered technologist, performs diagnostic sleep testing, including but not limited to order interpretation, medication administration, patient hook-up and monitoring, BLS responsibility, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) initiation and titration, oxygen administration, and other related duties. Documents findings / patient responses in a manner consistent with documentation guidelines. Reports equipment problems to the appropriate person.
Qualifications
Required High School Diploma or equivalent
CRT-Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program (A-STEP) - AASM American Academy of Sleep Medicine 1 Year required
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
