Who we are: The Brooks School of Public Policy, launched in September 2021, harnesses the university’s wide-ranging expertise in public policy teaching, research, and engagement into a shared academic home. Various established policy-focused institutes and programs from across the university are part of the school, boosting its scholarship and outreach activities. The Brooks School is introducing new and expanded undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and professional public policy courses, and degrees. The School’s faculty, with expertise in every region of the world, apply a global, interdisciplinary, and problem-oriented focus to a broad set of public policy issues. Building upon existing and developing academic strengths at Cornell, the school’s core areas of focus include data science and technology policy; environmental and sustainability policy; health policy; human security; inequality and social policy; the politics and economics of development; and race, racism, and public policy. Position Summary: The Associate Dean for Administration and Finance serves as the chief business and operating officer of the Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy, overseeing a budget of over $30 million with aggressive goals for growth in the coming years, serving a combined staff and faculty of over 100 and 700 undergraduate, professional masters, and Ph.D. students, and managing additional complexities associated with the School’s interdisciplinary reach across campus and collaborations with multiple colleges. Key Responsibilities: Serves as the primary advisor to the Dean in all areas of administration with oversight of administrative operations. Responsible for the direction and leadership of the following areas: Administration, Finance, Information Technology, Compliance, and Faculty Support. Brooks has a shared services model in partnership with the College of Human Ecology for IT, Facilities, Business Service Center, and HR. Sits as a member of the Dean's executive leadership team for the college and participates in strategic planning and executive decision-making. High visibility position with a high level of responsibility, discretion, and confidentiality; leadership role within the broader Cornell community in influencing university policy. This role requires the following: MS or MBA degree with a minimum of 5-7 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in senior-level management positions. Proven success in financial management and planning, strategic planning, and organizational development. Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and manage varied responsibilities across multiple functions.
