The Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE) coordinates and oversees broad areas of undergraduate education relevant to all seven undergraduate schools and colleges. Members of the office collaborate closely with the schools and colleges and other units across the University to promote academic success for all undergraduate students and to cultivate intellectual inquiry, both in and out of the classroom.
As a member of the University’s senior academic leadership team, the Vice Provost leads or co-leads many university-wide initiatives. In addition, the Vice Provost specifically oversees the Office of Academic Diversity Initiatives ; Intergroup Dialogue Project ; Learning Strategies Center ; Student Veterans Initiative ; living/learning communities and their faculty involvement in the West Campus House System , North Campus Faculty in Residence , and Learning Where You Live Courses ; Cornell Student Experience Initiative and the Salesforce Advising platform; university assessment ; and soon to be Health Careers Advising Center.
In support of the areas described above – including a dynamic portfolio of cross-college academic and student experience initiatives – and reporting to the Vice Provost and Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (AVPUE), the Director of Strategic Projects will oversee project discovery, scope boundaries, and deliverables; communicate project goals, status, and outcomes; assess and manage issues; implement process improvement and develop innovative solutions; advise on policy; collaborate with OVPUE leadership team colleagues and other campus partners.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years to 7 years relevant work experience or equivalent combination.
- Proven success in managing high impact campus-wide projects and initiatives to deliver high quality, innovative solutions.
- Experience in an academic organization working with senior leadership, faculty, staff, and students.
- Effective skills and proven experience in problem-solving, collaborating across boundaries, project management and prioritization, data-informed decision-making, reporting, and plann
- Ability to think strategically and analytically about project risks, challenges, and opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships and leverage them to achieve organizational goals through negotiation and consensus building among a wide variety of constituents.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills and diplomacy acumen.
