If so, Cornell University Library (CUL) is seeking a Manager of Library Applications Development. This is a great opportunity for a creative, knowledgeable, and collaborative IT innovator who would like to join one of the most cutting-edge academic library IT teams in the world. What you will do: You would oversee a promising team of web application developers who implement, maintain, and enhance web and full-stack applications that are essential to the scholarly mission of the Library and the needs of its patrons. You would advance development projects that benefit the Cornell scholarly community and researchers around the world. This position reports to the Library’s Software Development group, which is responsible for all custom software and integrations used by the Library. This role requires: You have a bachelor’s degree and at least five years’ experience directing web application developers, whether as a manager, project manager, technical lead, or a combination thereof. Experience in IT project management, technical leadership, and/or IT business dissection. Success in supporting hybrid teams (in-person and remote). Excellent written and oral communication know-how, and experience troubleshooting production problems. You have a commitment to promoting equity, inclusion, and diversity in the workplace. Familiarity with a variety of development languages and platforms. Awareness of optimum practices regarding IT security and software release and lifecycle management. Comprehension of the mission of a university research library and the way in which technology assists it, or desire to learn. Experience with AWS or other cloud providers. Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL Server, or other enterprise database management systems. Knowledge of digital access techniques and usability issues. Familiarity with -Serverless development with AWS Lambda or other serverless technologies. -Solr, DSpace, ArchivesSpace, FOLIO, Blacklight, and/or other systems commonly used by libraries. -WordPress or Drupal.
