Temporary Compliance Assistant Office of Research Integrity and Assurance (ORIA) Under the umbrella of the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, the Office of Research Integrity and Assurance (ORIA) provides support for multiple compliance functions. We have an immediate opening for a temporary Compliance Assistant, Band D, to support the ORIA office from March 2023 until August 2023. This position is remote, which means you can be located anywhere within the U.S. The New York "convenience of employer" guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside New York State. The Compliance Assistant will support each of the following ORIA functions: Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) What you will do: Support the IACUC and IBC for which ORIA provides management and administrative support. Facilitate the review and approval of applications to ensure completeness, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements and Cornell policies. Accurately comprehend, interpret, and explain regulations, policies, and procedures to faculty, staff, students and administrators. Act as the first point of contact for faculty, staff, students and administrators across campus. Assist in the preparation for and management of meetings and events, including scheduling, reserving rooms, coordinating audiovisual needs, and arranging catering. Assist in managing documentation for meetings, including distributing meeting materials and agendas, and preparing meeting minutes. Assist with protocol management systems support and reporting. Assist in ensuring research-related compliance across the University. Required Qualifications: Associate’s degree with two to four years of administrative experience or equivalent combination, ability to understand research documents; and must be able to work with a diverse group of people to arrive at mutually successful goals. The successful candidate should be able to read, comprehend, and advise individuals at all levels of the University on University policy, regulatory requirements and procedures to advance research activities. A customer service attitude is essential. The candidate will be proficient with computers, especially using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and have strong organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines. Ability to learn quickly with the goal of being able to work independently without continual oversight is essential. Excellent attention to detail and written and verbal communication skills are necessary in order to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization. Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree or coursework in life or social sciences, with knowledge of research and experience working directly with researchers or faculty. Experience in a compliance area and applicable federal regulations and guidance documents regulating research. Some understanding of sponsored research activities.
