Position Overview
Assists the BSA Officer with oversight and management of all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering program. Maintains policies and procedures and risk assessments. Responsible for developing, implementing, and administering the Fraud management program. Includes the identification, assessment and monitoring of BSA/AML risks, including fraud. This position oversees the process for investigation and processing illegal, and improper activities and the prevention and recovery of losses caused by such activities. A key function of the role is the ongoing timely management of the Bank’s customer due diligence program and the ongoing oversight of higher risk customers.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Oversees and manages the customer due diligence program including initial and ongoing/enhanced due diligence. Makes informed, timely and appropriate recommendations for program enhancement and increased efficiency.
- Conducts time sensitive investigations of fraud against the Bank, including check fraud, debit fraud, online fraud, elder abuse and identity theft and manages loss tracking and reporting.
- Assists with BSA/AML functions by performing routine reviews to identify trends and assess customer risk in a time-sensitive and investigative manner.
- Assists with managing the Bank Secrecy Act program by overseeing the reviews of Red Flags, OFAC.
- Actively participates in the reviewing, drafting and preparation of FinCEN filings (i.e., CTR’s & SAR’s) and reviews customer accounts for suspicious activity.
- Provides training bank-wide as necessary on BSA and fraud mitigation.
- Maintains the Bank’s exempt customer program and the 314a and 314b process.
- Stays abreast of the changing regulatory landscape related to BSA and keeps management informed of necessary changes.
- Management of branch audit program.
- Assists with bank-wide and department projects as needed.
- Participates in preparing and managing regulatory exams and audits
Requirements
Qualifications
- College degree or equivalent experience in related fields.
- Minimum two years’ experience and training in BSA/fraud management required
- Effective at multi-tasking and must be able to meet frequent deadlines and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Must be detail oriented and possess exceptional organizational, time management and analytical skills
- Strong written business and verbal communication skills
- Must attend external training, seminars and workshops as necessary
- Possess the ability to read and comprehend regulations and other instructional material and communicate understanding of needed changes effectively to appropriate parties
- Proficient with Microsoft Office product suite
Education/Training/Experience
Fraud management and BSA experience required and Verafin experience (or equivalent Anti-Money Laundering/Fraud system) preferred. Consumer compliance regulations experience/exposure a plus.
