The Testing Center Staff Assistant position is a part-time, hourly position. Under the direction of the Director of Recruitment and Admissions and working with the Accessibility Services Coordinator and Workforce Education and Academic Pathways, the Staff Assistant oversees the organization and management of the testing rooms in the Testing Center as well as the private testing rooms for accommodated testing. The Staff Assistant is responsible for proctoring and administering standardized tests and accommodated tests to groups and individuals while maintaining a quiet atmosphere for testing. The Staff Assistant is responsible for following standard testing protocol as required by faculty or staff. The Staff Assistant is cross trained to assist with duties for Accessibility Services.
Travel to other CCC locations will be required; travel to conferences and/or recruiting events may be required. Prolonged time sitting/standing working with computers and monitors, ability to walk/move across campus including walking up and down stairs, ability to lift up to 20 pounds (occasionally may be more), repeated motions may include keyboard typing. Typical office and indoor building environments, occasional outdoor activity may be required. Essential Functions
Test Proctoring (60%)
- Proctors and administers standardized tests, placement tests, accommodated tests and make-up tests to groups and individuals on the Spencer Hill campus, Health Education Center, Airport Corporate Park and Elmira locations.
- Maintains a quiet, secure atmosphere for testing.
- Maintains confidentiality and security of all test materials, test logs, and other test documents.
- Understands and upholds test procedures; adheres to academic integrity policies and procedures.
- Ensures testing materials are returned to appropriate instructors or agencies as required.
- Works with faculty to have information/materials to proctor exams in a timely manner.
- Communicates with external partners for testing.
- Displays patience with all test candidates in stressful situations.
- Works with students who have accommodations, including having tests read, scribing tests, or providing a special testing climate.
- Maintains daily testing schedules, records, test files.
- Maintains test proctor certifications.
- Enters data into Banner system.
- Works with the Office of Recruitment & Admissions to communicate placement testing needs, study materials, etc. to incoming students.
- Utilize specialized software to prepare exams to meet students’ accommodations.
- Create accommodation letters for Accessibility Services students.
- Works independently and responsibly in the absence of supervision.
- Reports all communication to center staff in a timely manner.
- Attends trainings as required.
- Performs other duties or tasks as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively and have an interest in working with all students including students with disabilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and staff regarding student needs.
- Ability to interact with the general public for certification testing.
- Comfortable learning and using new technology, including Assistive Technology and computer software.
- Ability to think quickly to solve problems and address test candidates, student, faculty, and staff concerns.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and in alignment with the Family Education Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Knowledge of computers, especially Microsoft Office and Google mail and calendar.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Good judgment regarding test administration.
- Experience effectively engaging backgrounds, identities, and communities different from one's own.
- Demonstrates commitment to accomplishing work in an ethical, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
- Ability to effectively convey information verbally and in writing, demonstrate effective listening skills, and display respect for and openness to other people’s ideas and thoughts.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree
- Reliable transportation to travel between campuses as needed
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
- This position is in-person on campus
- Background with testing platforms is a plus
- Higher education experience is a plus
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
