Job Summary
The Benefits team is responsible for the design and administration of Marriott International’s benefit plans to attract and retain top talent. We strive to drive operational excellence and support our Putting People First philosophy. The Benefits Analyst is an integral member of the team and will play leading and partnering roles on all aspects of Marriott’s benefits plans, with a primary focus on health and wellbeing programs. This includes managing ongoing plan operations to ensure high levels of performance and customer satisfaction, as well as ensuring that the plans are administered in accordance with policies and procedures as established by Marriott.
The Benefit Analyst will liaison with senior staff internally and externally, including Marriott’s health and welfare insurance carriers and vendors, and internal departments (law department, finance, HR leaders, and other stakeholders).
Expected Contributions
Plan Management and Vendor Relations
- Manage day-to-day activities of plan vendors and insurance carriers to ensure benefits are administered according to plan guidelines.
- Collaborate with plan carriers to research and resolve plan administration, service and claim payment issues.
- Manage, research and track escalated plan issues to ensure resolution and identify trends and areas for process improvements.
- Lead health plan member communication plan and ensure appropriate reviews are performed. Track effectiveness of communications in collaboration with health plans.
- Collaborate with internal teams and health plan carriers to create a successful Annual Enrollment and ongoing plan operations throughout the year.
- Provide guidance to vendors to implement, update programs, and assist with the development of associate engagement materials and communications.
- Develop ongoing internal and external relationships that are integral to the administration of the plan.
- Coordinate status meetings with plan carrier account teams, track action items and collaborate with internal and external resources to execute opportunities identified.
- Provide exceptional and timely customer service to all associates and plan participants focusing on creating a positive member experience.
- Provide oversight to health coaches to ensure services and experience meets Marriott’s expectations.
Analysis and Measurement:
- Provide analytical support on claims data and health plan utilization to identify trends, recommend opportunities to modify and improve benefit programs, policies and procedures and cost management. This includes work with large datasets and multiple data sources to analyze benefits data for program measurement.
- Generate ad-hoc data reports; analyze and merge data files, and summarize findings.
- Measure impact of benefit programs and plan changes.
Benefits Plan Compliance
- Review and update benefit documents including, but not limited to, Enrollment materials, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) and Summary Materials Modifications (SMM).
- Research and respond to correspondence from government entities and requests for documents, policies, and procedures. Liaison with Legal team, vendors and Workers Compensation team as needed.

Education - Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, business, economics or related disciplines required.
Candidate Profile
Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong skills as follows:
- 2 year(s) experience in Business, Human Resources, Benefits, Insurance or Benefits consulting role.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas, expectation and information in a concise, organized manner.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and follow up.
- Manages time effectively and conducts activities in an organized manner.
- Competency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- High-level proficiency with Excel (v-lookups and pivot tables); preferred.
- Ability to flourish in a team environment as well as the ability to work independently
- Analytic abilities and attention to detail demonstrated through prior work experience
- Experience working with large data sets and analyzing data from various sources
