Lead Release Train Engineer

Position Purpose: Leads the optimization of the flow of value through the Agile Release Train by facilitating the major events and processes and assisting the teams in delivering value. Pushes for process improvements and challenges existing behaviors by supporting the Agile teams to become both self-organizing and self-managing. Communicates with stakeholders, escalates impediments, helps manage risk, and drives continuous improvement.

Manages demand through the pods using Kanban or Scrum; assesses and drives improvements to DevOps and releases on demand in the CI/CD pipeline

Facilitates ART (Agile Release Train) events including the coordinated preparation and execution of release planning for the ART

Assists the ART in communication and coordination with stakeholders and customers during feature definition and delivery

Manages changes to the ART Planning Increment (PI) and the impacts of those changes

Understands, visualizes and manages risks and dependencies; escalates and tracks impediments

Facilitates Planning Increment readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process that drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, through Pre- and Post-Planning Increment events

Tracks and maintains policies & metrics; assures tools implementation and maintenance, manages internal project milestones

Adopts Lean Agile practices, and develops culture of continuous improvement

Provides ART and team coaching

Supports Product Managers/Owners, Solution Train Engineers, and Development teams to achieve objectives
Performs other duties as assigned

Education/Experience: A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science). Requires 5 – 7 years of related experience. Or equivalent experience acquired through accomplishments of applicable knowledge, duties, scope and skill reflective of the level of this position. Technical Skills: Experience with Program Management; Stakeholder Management required Knowledge of Agile Management; Project Management; Software Development Life Cycle required Soft Skills: Intermediate - Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty Intermediate - Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Intermediate - Ability to work independently Intermediate - Demonstrated analytical skills Intermediate - Demonstrated project management skills Intermediate - Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure Intermediate - Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision making skills Intermediate - Ability to communicate and make recommendations to upper management Intermediate - Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion Intermediate - Possesses technical aptitude License/Certification: SAFe Scrum Master Certification , Certified Agile (SA) Practitioner or equivalent certifications required SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification preferred
