Role
You will report directly to the Senior Manager of Accounting in this is hands-on role. On a daily basis you will need to have an understanding of a variety of financial reporting functions such as Cash Flow, Reconciliations, Month-End and Year-End close, Audit etc. You will be expected to work with people from around the world, including the US, UK, Sweden, and India among other locations. You will also be teaming across functions including FP&A, HR, and engineering teams among others. In addition to these daily responsibilities, there will also be a range of key projects for you to get involved in such as system implementations, process design, continuous improvement programs etc.
This role has high visibility within the finance department as you will interact frequently with the CFO. You will also have the opportunity to interact with executives across other functions on miscellaneous projects. As the finance team strives to be leaders within the Company, you should exercise excellent relationship management skills to encourage modern and innovative thinking. Most of all, we need to get things done the right way.
Responsibilities:
- Research GAAP accounting questions and apply knowledge
- Support statutory and corporate reporting (audited financial statements, tax returns, monthly reporting packages)
- Ownership of certain monthly reporting requirements including month-end close responsibilities
- Perform and review various balance sheet reconciliations
- Understand activity in income statement accounts to investigate and explain month-over-month variances and variances with forecasts
- Assist in the year-end audit as required
- Liaison with external tax accountants and other external partners
- Drive improvements in data quality, reporting, and general service provisions to the whole business
- Manage assigned areas of the finance function
- Other ad-hoc projects as assigned from time to time
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 3 years of related accounting experience
- Public accounting experience in a top 100 accounting firm strongly preferred
- Licensed CPA or tracking to be a CPA is a plus
- Must be technology savvy and enjoy learning / troubleshooting financial systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (there will be a test)
- Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP preferred
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Must be willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally. This may be at a weeks’ notice, ranging from a week overseas to a couple of days. We expect that will not exceed 6 weeks in total per year.
