Primary Purpose:
Evaluates and administers data, voice, video communications and program needs. Evaluates and projects data communications needs for Corsicana Independent School District (CISD) Wide Area Network (WAN) and all Corsicana Independent School District (CISD) local area networks (LAN). Establishes and monitors central network systems security. Maintains existing network software systems and coordinates the implementation of new and replacement systems. Evaluate, implement, and maintain the CISD Network Infrastructure Enterprise.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate Degree- Technology related field
- Bachelor’s Degree- Technology related field; Preferred
- Master’s Degree – Technology related field; Preferred
- Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA); Preferred
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP); Preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of computer workstation setup (identify requirement–i.e., Windows 7 Operating System, and Microsoft Office Suite)
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications
- Ability to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals, including printers, modems, scanners
- Ability to install and maintain network cables and hardware
- Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs
Experience
- Two years work experience installing, maintaining, and repairing computers and peripherals, software applications, and printers and projectors
- Two years work experience working with Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office Productivity Suite Application
- K-12 expreience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Specifies CISD Network Infrastructure
- Establishes network standards to maintain network user accounts, user environments, directories, and security.
- Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs.
- Stays abreast of network standards and technology upgrades.
- Manages the network interconnections between the district and our Internet service provider (AT&T and CenturyLink).
- Monitors Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) traffic for continuous uptime without errors and makes recommendations regarding improvement when needed.
- Coordinates and oversees the network infrastructure for the Corsicana Independent School District.
- Performs network traffic analysis to monitor network utilization and manages network resources.
- Updates district switches, routers, and software-firmware as required.
- Establishes Network Security Standards and ensures all district data network resources are secure.
- Develops and maintains the district's Network Infrastructure Disaster Recovery Plan.
- Monitors the network connectivity issues between the district's Network Operations Center (NOC) and Internet Service Providers (ISP).
- Supervises and trains technical staff on data communications systems in their proper and effective use.
- Updates the district's Acceptable Use Policies as needed.
- Monitors and maintains the district’s Network Security Infrastructure to include firewall, email and web content filtering appliances.
- Develops and maintains the district's data network in accordance with industry standards.
- Facilitates the district’s VoIP implementation.
- Assists in network growth planning and budget development.
- Coordinates and supervises contractors to do network cabling and hardware installations.
- Interfaces with campus principals and campus technologists to identify and develop district network growth.
- Oversees Wide Area Network traffic analysis issues for the district.
- Keeps updated on all viruses that may potentially attack user’s internet or internal email. Administers the email Iron Port server to ensure that all users are protected from virus attacks.
- Serves as the Internet Filtering Administrator to create reports as requested by management and blocks/unblocks those internet.
- Assists in the design, development, and implementation of the data network.
- Monitors and performs operational maintenance of the network, using software tools to monitor and diagnose potential network traffic problems.
- Plans and supervises installation, development, and enhancement of systems and diagnoses hardware and software problems.
- Maintains and monitors relevant operating system(s) and network performance with associated tools and utilities
- Provides support for the design, implementation and maintenance of inbound and outbound network security processes.
- Acquires a minimum working knowledge of applications in order to optimize performance, resolve problems, and modify as required.
- Collaborates with the district administrative and instructional technology staff to provide consistent, reliable and highly available systems and resources for instructional purposes.
- Provides system/application administration such as account management, storage assignments and access authorization.
- Provides basic telecommunications support for internal and external network access.
- Provides expert input in recommending hardware and software configurations, solutions, and planning on all technology resources.
- Assists in the development of new and/or revised administrative methods or policies to improve utilization, reporting, and overall accountability in administration of systems and applications to ensure efficient and effective resource utilization.
- Installs/repairs data processing equipment at District Administration building as well as delivers/installs/repairs data processing equipment at other District facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Equipment Repair and Maintenance
- Diagnose and repair equipment, including printers, terminals, and personal computers, switches, routers, and other networking appliances.
- Service equipment according to established preventive maintenance schedule.
- Maintain accurate updated records of preventive maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.

- Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing and carrying.

Working Conditions: (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors)
Climbing, stooping, bending, and kneeling; frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test equipment; frequent districtwide travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day for scheduled periods.
Salary : $40,100 - $50,800
