Description: The LPN Supervisor works as a liaison between residents, resident families, and staff. The LPN Supervisor duties also include handling scheduling issues, problem solving resident concerns and coordinating care with the Care Staff. The LPN Supervisor will also support complete supervision of the medication room, passing techniques, documentation, and supervision and provision of care related to medication in the community as needed and assigned.
Responsibilities of the Weekend LPN Lead:
- Ensure that the policies and procedures are effective and enforced to support the health and safety of the residents.
- Handle scheduling issues and fill in for personnel as needed.
- Oversee the staff to ensure that medication administration, care and services are being delivered safely and in accordance with the Georgia Assisted Living Community Rules and Regulations.
- Investigate serious incidents involving residents which result in injuries or death and report immediately to the Wellness Director and/or Administrator.in
- Review and utilize the Community’s disaster preparedness plan for staff and residents to follow in case of fire, explosion, natural disaster, or other emergency, including interruption of electrical power supply, gas-heating supply and water supply.
- Notify Wellness Director of at-risk residents in need of a higher level of care.
- Coordinate care planning with families, physicians, and home health agencies in the building on the weekends while working within the Community’s policies and procedures.
- Monitor staff performance, providing additional training as necessary, and reporting any issues to the Resident Care Director.
- Monitor and maintain the required first aid supplies.
- Read all shift change acknowledgement notes.
- Investigate complaints, document and review.
- Supervise the medication room and orders, working with and supervising Medication Aides and Caregivers.
- Other duties as assigned by the Administrator.
Position Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be an LPN with a current Georgia license and in good standing.
- Must have an acceptable criminal background record check.
- Must keep a current certification in emergency first aid and CPR.
- Must have a clear tuberculosis screening upon hire to assure that the employee is free of diseases communicable within the scope of employment.
- Must have a physical examination prior to employment and as required by the Community after an injury or illness to assure that the employee is physically qualified to work.
- Must be able to bend/stoop, climb, reach above shoulder level, kneel, balance, push, pull, squat, crouch, lift, carry, and move up to one hundred (100) pounds.
- Must have training in emergency evacuation procedures, medical and social needs of the residents, resident’s rights, abuse and neglect reporting, infection control, medication assistance, dementia, and courses relevant to the job duties.
- Must obtain at least twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education the first year and sixteen (16) hours of continuing education courses each year thereafter.
- Employee must not be under the influence of alcohol or other substances while engaged in any work-related activity on behalf of the Community.
- Employee must wear a name tag at all times while on the property or engaged in any work-related activity on behalf of the Community.
- Able to work various schedules and shifts as needed.
