Summary:
The Systems and Documentation Specialist is responsible for maintaining/testing all system files and options; and providing recommendations to Business Operations management staff with respect to modifications, education and training.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Handbook. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within.
2. Working with Practice Management and Clearinghouse support; identifies and seeks support as necessary.
3. Determine and develop billing requirements directed by insurance carriers and designs billing files in practice management system.
4. Analyze and test new system modules and upgrades. Provide recommendations to management staff with regard to modifications, education and training.
5. Work with Leads, Supervisors and Managers to identify system improvements. Investigates and gathers industry resources for procedure improvements.
6. Participate in orientation and training of new employees.
Education/Licensure/Experience:
Two (2) or more years of successful experience within a medical billing office
Two (2) or more years of computer skills and PC experience, including Word and Excel
One (1) or more years of customer service experience
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding
Knowledge in secondary/support systems related to the practice management system such as clearing house systems
Knowledge of NextGen with the expectation to become NextGen certified in Enterprise Practice Management
Knowledge of provider credentialing and payer expectation for billing and reimbursement requirements
Knowledge in importing/exporting ERA’s and patient statement
Knowledge of insurance carrier billing
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work with difficult/upset people
Ability to work well with providers and other staff
Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work
