What are the responsibilities and job description for the EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT 2 (REGULAR/PROBATIONARY / PART-TIME) - FRANKLIN K-8 SCHOOL position at Corvallis SD 509J?

Purpose: To support student learning by assisting licensed staff in curriculum/program implementation. Exercises independent judgment to assist in the management of classroom/program operations in a manner consistent with administrative direction, district policies and procedures, and goals of the instructional program. Manages student behavior effectively in accordance with the building behavior policy. Maintains high standards and expectations for students in a manner that encourages independent learning and personal growth.

Hours: 6.5 hours per day
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Contract Status: Regular/Probationary
FLSA Status: Non-exempt - Classified
Start Date: 23/24 School Year
Calendar: 181 Work Days
Rate: $18.36 with benefits
Retirement Contribution: Corvallis School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. Upon eligibility, the district contributes 6% of an employee’s salary to their Individual Account Program (IAP). Eligibility is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

Minimum Qualifications
  • An associate’s (or higher) degree, two years post secondary study, or a passing score on a district approved assessment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; including communications to parents under the direction of the general education and special education teacher/service provider.  Interest in learning to effectively use other communication systems.
  • Ability to work with challenging behaviors and creatively problem-solve difficult situations while using intervention strategies.
