This position is responsible for the design, support, installation, configuration, and monitoring of Middleware Application and Web servers, in both Cloud and On-Prem Environments primarily running on RHEL.

ROLE

• Provides operational support for Middleware WebSphere Java Application Servers, IBM HTTP Server (IHS), and other products supported by the Middleware team.
• Delivers project based work to agreed target dates and notifies project manager and engineer of any roadblocks.
• Works with supplier, business and application development teams, and other technical teams to meet the needs of the project.
• Installs, configures and monitors all applications and web servers.
• Works with team, engineers, and architecture to implement and support the project's infrastructure design. 
• Monitors load tests, performs deploys, reviews logs, and various other tasks to maintain the middleware portfolio. 
• Seeks opportunities to learn, automate, document, share, educate, and improve processes where appropriate. 
• Follows corporate security standards and best practices, including the promotion of awareness on current threats.
• Understands and adheres to Costco’s project methodology and framework, Costco’s Mission Statement and Code of Ethics.
• Provide 24x7x365 on-call pager support and be available to work weekends and/or holidays, as necessary.

REQUIRED

• Proficient with OS utilities such as vi, top/topas, crontab, nslookup, ifconfig, and ssh to troubleshoot issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willing to learn third party applications eg: Dynatrace OneAgent, SPLUNK.
• Fundamental networking knowledge.
• Participates in 24x7 on-call support, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays, as necessary.

Recommended

• 2 years’ experience supporting products running on AIX or Linux servers.
• 1 year supporting production java application server environments.
• 1 year experience with CI/CD orchestration tools e.g., Jenkins, Maven or similar CI/CD. 
• Unix administration or certification.
• IBM WebSphere Application Server certification.
• WebSphere Commerce Server experience.
• LDAP/Oracle/DB2/MQ integration.
• Experience with monitoring tools.
• SSL/SSO experience.
• Jython, JACL, and/or PERL scripting.
