Database Administrator


The Database Administrator at Costrategix will be responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of all aspects of database infrastructures. This includes but is not limited to design, standardization, security, replication, and backup/recovery strategy. This role acts as a Technical Reference User for other designated applications to ensure tools are fully leveraged.


You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of  databases, contributing to the overall success of IT systems and business operations of CoStrategix customers.  A strong understanding of database management systems, data modeling, and a range of technologies associated with database administration is needed for this position.


The ideal candidate for the Database Administrator position will possess a combination of technical expertise, problem solving, and effective communication abilities. They will have a strong understanding of Database Management Systems (DBMS), proficient in SQL for database querying and manipulation, and familiarity with database design, data modeling, and normalization techniques.



Roles and responsibilities:


  • Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user’s specialized role
  • Design and implement databases in accordance to end users’ information needs and views
  • Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner
  • Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
  • Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
  • Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards
  • Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required
  • Build and maintain ADF pipelines
  • Extensive knowledge of ETL/ELT processes
  • Be able to assist developers with slow query tuning and troubleshooting of PowerBI reports.
  • Provide design, planning, configuration, documentation, deployment, and support ownership of SQL Server/Linux infrastructure
  • Install, manage, and customize server configurations of Commercial Off –the-Shelf (COTS) software to achieve mission performance requirements by providing quality work
  • Consult with internal departments to identify customer needs and include into project and support objectives
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with all stakeholders


Requirements:


  • 6 years of experience as a database administrator/engineer or in a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related information technology field
  • Experience with database standards, design, documentation, coding, and end user applications
  • Experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third-party tools
  • Experience with programming languages (T-SQL, Powershell, Unix, etc.)
  • Experience with full Azure Stack (Azure SQL DB, ADF, etc.)
  • Experience with SSIS, PowerBi, ADF, and other tools from MS stack
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL Server
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think algorithmically and explain complex ideas in simple terms
  • Ability to work with data architects and other IT specialists to set up, maintain, and monitor data networks
