School Nurse
The Medical Department at Cotting School is an integral part of the mission to support students with special needs in achieving their highest level of independence and success - in academics and life!
Our team of medical professionals is looking to grow by adding an RN who brings positivity (not COVID!), a can-do attitude, and a desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, to the table!
About the Position:
As a R.N. at Cotting School, you will work within the Collaborative Care Model - consulting to and with other clinical professionals - OTs, PTs, SLPs/CTs, and mental health professionals - in addition to partnering with education staff and families.
In our ever bustling medical department, you will be responsible for:
Responding to medical emergencies that may occur during school hours or after-school activities
Assessing students’ medical needs and providing appropriate care, including medication administration
Providing direct personal care services and G-tube feedings as needed
Educating clinical and non-clinical staff in medically related issues
Accompanying students and staff on community trips to ensure required medical care is available for certain students
Required Qualifications:
Must be licensed as an RN to practice in the state of Massachusetts
One year of pediatric nursing experience
Must be able to correctly lift students up to 150 pounds with appropriate assistance. This must be certified by a physician.
Criminal Offender Record Information (C.O.R.I.) background check and
Satisfactory TB/Mantoux and drug screenings are also required.
