POSITION SUMMARY:
The Court Clerk is responsible for maintaining an accurate record of the complete court proceedings utilizing various methods. Daily operations involve preparing files for court, keeping an accurate record on specific court sheets, as well as marking and collecting exhibits/evidence. Work is completed in an active court environment, with occasional proceedings continuing outside of normal business hours.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supplies the Court with required records pertinent to the case it is hearing.
- Prepares files and other documents prior to court proceedings.
- Communicates with litigants to obtain and share information required by the Court.
- Furnish appropriate court forms to litigants.
- Performs live entry into CPCMS.
- Maintains files of finished cases. Checks the accuracy of orders and all documents related to the cases prior to returning to the designated filing office.
- Communicates with filing offices to ensure that files are available, and returned, and appropriate documents are filed properly.
- Swears in witnesses and members of the jury.
- Aids in the selection of the jury by keeping records of the selection process. Seats selected jurors and administers oaths.
- Documents all motions and their outcomes on the appropriate forms.
- Inputs Court information into computer (located in courtroom).
- Maintains records for all hearing types, not limited to Civil, Criminal, Juvenile, Orphan’s and Family Court.
- Reports unusual conditions or questionable items to supervisor.
- Daily utilization of CPCMS and/or other necessary electronic case/docket management systems.
- Ability to learn and navigate each division of the Court.
- Keeps accurate record of exhibits as well as maintaining the integrity of evidence throughout proceedings.
- Obeys all safety rules and regulations.
- Performs similar or related duties as required. Availability to work beyond normal business hours.

- High school diploma or equivalent. Associate or bachelor’s degree with bi-lingual ability preferred .
- Familiar with court terms and procedures. Must possess proficient computer skills and knowledge.
