Biweekly Salary: Kennel Attendant I: $1,312.04 - $1,435.05Kennel Attendant II: $1,435.05 - $1,570.68Responsible for the basic needs of animals at the shelter which includes cleaning of cages, runs, outdoor kennels, corrals and meet-and-greet areas, proper feeding, medication administration, laundry duties, tending to special medical needs/aftercare, and walking/exercising animals as assigned. May have occasional interactions with law enforcement or the general public with animal intake duties. Employees within this classification receive limited supervision within a framework of policies and procedures; receives general supervision from the Appointing Authority or designee, including Animal Control Officers. This position may require working on weekends and County holidays with additional hours during the week, as needed.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Requirements: Knowledge of: Proper cleaning procedures and sanitization techniques for both indoor and outdoor facilities including kennels, dog runs, socialization areas, corrals, etc.Basic animal care for a variety of animals including but not limited to: dogs, cats, rabbits and all varieties of livestock.Administering prescribed medications and maintaining accurate recordsAbility to: Interact with animals in a calm, non-threatening mannerThrive in a fast-paced environmentUnderstand and follow verbal and written instructionsEstablish and maintain cooperative relationships with staff, volunteers, other agencies and the publicMaintain accurate and legible kennel notes regarding feeding, medications, and behavior issuesSustain a passion for animal welfareAvailable to work on weekends and public holidays as required.
