The successful candidate will provide skilled and complex legal clerical duties in the Probate Court Clerk's office, under the direction of the Chief Deputy Probate Register, the Probate Register, and the Chief Probate Judge. Duties will include receiving and responding to in-person requests for information and assistance at the Probate Court counter from the public, customers, clients, staff, other County departments, public and private sector agencies, and assisting with a variety of court-related issues either by phone, writing, email or in person, as well as use of a computerized case management system.
Primary duties will include examination and analysis of documents presented for filing for substantive and procedural compliance with statutory and other rules, regulations and requirements, as well as preparation, posting and reconciliation of a variety of financial transactions. This individual will perform a variety of clerical duties and will be responsible for performing miscellaneous duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent combined with a minimum of two years para-professional experience in a Probate Court environment or legal setting. An equivalent combination of relevant experience and education may be considered. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact with diverse populations are required. Strong organizational skills, accuracy and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment are essential. Individual must have good oral and written communication skills, sound judgment and be able to work independently. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in various Microsoft Applications.
